"Can't Help Falling In Love" Easy Fingerstyle Guitar Lesson + Tutorial | Easy Fingerpicking Pattern
Welcome to my "Can't Help Falling In Love With You" Guitar Lesson + Tutorial, by Elvis Presley. I've laid it out in a very easy key, so the chord shapes are a lot simpler than usual. This will allow us to focus on the fingerpicking pattern, which is so easy, just ascending and descending. This classic ballad is very similar to "Unchained Melody" if you want to learn them side-by-side. "Can't Help Falling In Love With You" CHORDS: C, Em, Am, C/G, F, G, B7, Dm, A7 "Can't Help Falling In Love With You" Fingerpicking PATTERN: TIM RMI (just watch the lesson for this... so weird putting patterns in text). ► "Can't Help Falling In Love With You" Full Song Play-Through (play along with me, from start-to-finish) available on my Patreon page: / 58273757 ► Grab your copy of my FREE E-BOOK! https://goodguitarist.com/learn-rhyth... ► Need help with the basic chords and strumming? This is by far the easiest way to do it. I know that it has quite a few chord shapes, but the switching it's actually really easy from chord to chord. Almost every one of them shares a common finger and if you follow it, the way that I teach you, this feels a lot easier than it should be. We practice the switching using downstrokes only, working our way through the chord progression just so we can get used to playing it without the fingerpicking pattern, focusing on the counting and playing each chord for the right amount of times. This song uses one of the easiest fingerpicking patterns on guitar. But before we learn the actual pattern, we need to learn the rhythm. The song is in 6-8 time and that means we have to count it a particular way, “1+a 2+a.” Once we can count it properly it's so easy to add the fingers. We ASCEND on the “1+a” going thumb index middle, and then we descend on the “2+a” - ring middle index. I would try it on each chord shape, paying attention to where your thumb goes. We go over it in the tutorial, but I'll write it down here as well. Our thumb is on the A string for the following chords: C, Am, F Our thumb is on the E string for the following chords: Em, C/G, G From here it's really simple. We just have to add our chord progression and that's it! So once we have our chords and our strumming separate, we can put them together and play through the verse nice and slow. All that’s left is the bridge. When it comes to applying our finger picking pattern, it's pretty simple. Our thumb is on the A string for the following chords: B7, A7 Our thumb is on the E string for the following chords: Em, G And then for the D minor chord, we have to change it up a little and move everything, even our fingers. So I recommend practicing the switch from A7 to Dm, going back and forth, moving your picking hand as well. And then doing that for Dm to G. That's going to be the hardest part of the entire song, so make sure to isolate it and practice it by itself. Putting this all together is simple. It's one of those old fashioned tunes where we just go back and forth between the two sections. Once we're comfortable with that, we can play through the entire song. If you'd like to practice the entire song with me, there's a full playthrough available on my Patreon page, where I play through the entire song, start to finish.
