By calling Matthew, Jesus extends discipleship to the rejected people of His time. Matthew is a tax collector, thus doubly an outcast: Firstly, he deals with the coins of pagans inscribed with pagan gods, and secondly, collects taxes for the Romans, thus cheating the Jews. He is a traitor. But Jesus calls Matthew to follow Him to proclaim His message and he does it to perfection. My dear family of Mother Mary’s protection, Jesus came for us, He is with us and He is for us. He is helping us to walk toward perfection. His love, mercy, and compassion toward us are tremendous that’s why He forgives us again and again and He lifts us to rise from our failures and weaknesses. Do I experience Jesus, our only Physician, Saviour, and Good Shepherd, and help the least, the last, and the lost to experience His Healing and mighty blessings? Prayer "Lord Jesus, our Savior, let us now come to you: Our hearts are cold; Lord, warm them with your selfless love. Our hearts are sinful; cleanse them with your precious blood. Our hearts are weak; strengthen them with your joyous Spirit. Our hearts are empty; fill them with your divine presence. Lord Jesus, our hearts are yours; possess them always and only for yourself.” Amen.
