#JesusSendsOutTheTwelve #TellingALie #TruthAndLies #IsLyingASin TOPIC: IS IT OKAY TO TELL A LIE? First Reading: Haggai 1:1-8 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 149:1B-2, 3-4, 5-6A AND 9B Alleluia: John 14:6 Gospel: Luke 9:7-9 In today’s gospel reading, Herod the Tetrach is curious about Jesus whom he thought was John the Baptist reincarnated. John was beheaded by Herod the Tetrarch ⏤ son of Herod the Great ⏤ who pursued Jesus when the latter was still a baby. John’s beheading was narrated in detail in the gospels of Mark and Matthew but is mentioned in passing in Luke. He was beheaded because he dared to tell the truth. He criticized Herod for marrying his brother’s wife. John was unafraid to speak the truth to everyone ⏤ calling the compromised religious leaders as a brood of vipers.” He did not pretend to be the Messiah and spoke about Jesus as the true Savior (Matthew 3). We reflect today on the subject of lying, admittedly, a very tricky and complex issue. This is the 534th installment of our CFC quarantine contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
