Monday’s meeting will be the third emergency Cobra meeting held about the Afghanistan crisis since Friday. His official spokesman said the UK will continue the evacuation effort for “as long as we are able to do so and as long as it is safe to do so”. It comes as Defence Secretary Ben Wallace warned Nato forces are not going back to Afghanistan after the Taliban declared it is in control of the country following the fall of Kabul.
