#LoveForOneAnother #SayingsOnDiscipleship #Discipleship #Worry #WorryAndFear #Sinfulness TOPIC: WHY DO YOU WORRY SO MUCH? First Reading: Romans 13:8-10 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 112:1B-2, 4-5, 9 Alleluia: 1 Peter 4:14 Gospel: Luke 14:25-33 Today’s readings are about discipleship, of how we can become like Christ, by following His teachings, particularly His commandment of love. St. Paul says in the first reading that the only debt we should incur is the debt of love, for in doing so, we fulfill all the commandments. The gospel reading may seem puzzling as it seems to propagate hate instead of love, particularly, to one’s closest neighbor ⏤ one’s family. But according to biblical scholars, we must be careful not to interpret this Semitic idiom literally. It is simply a dramatic way of saying that anyone who puts any person above God and His mission is not ready to be a disciple. But when we sin, it can affect our disposition and attitudes in life. This is the 575th installment of our CFC quarantine contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
