We thank you for visiting our YouTube channel to watch our Christmas Eve Service of Lessons & Carols. We pray you will be blessed by this viewing. We begin our service listening to the Prelude, "Silent Night," arr. Gordon Young, played by our organist, Sarah Scovel. Rev. John P. Wilson then gave a few announcements for those watching and attending of the week to come, which was followed by Pastor John lighting all of the candles, explaining each one, and finishing with lighting the Christ candle. Everyone then sang "O Come, All Ye Faithful," hymn # 133 in our hymnal, “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). The service then proceeded into the Invocation, then the reading from Genesis 3:8-15 by Scott Petersen, and Genesis 22:15-18 by Donna Rothgeb. This was followed by everyone singing "Hark! The Hearld Angels Sing," # 119in our hymnal, “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). Next a reading from Isaiah 9:2, 6-7 by Susie Kleinbeck, followed by a reading from Isaiah 11:1-4, 6-9 by Fritz Menning. Everyone stood and sang "Angels, from the Realms of Glory," # 143 in our hymnal, “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). Ray Rothgeb then read from Luke 1:26-35, 38, and Priscilla Petersen followed with Luke 2:1-7, then everyone stood and sang "Gentle Mary Laid Her Child," # 146 in our hymnal, “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). Gary Hogsett then read from Luke 2:8-16, followed by Kym Kays reading from Matthew 2:1-11. Everyone then stood and sang "Angels We Have Heard on High," # 113 in our hymnal, “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). Rev. Wilson then came forward and read from John 1:1-4, followed by the call to give gifts. During the offertory time, our organist played an "Untitled" piece by J. Blied. When she concluded playing the piece, everyone then stood and sang the Doxology. Our service then proceeded to communion. FPC practices open communion wherein all who believe in God and the Lord Jesus are welcomed to partake. After communion, Rev. Wilson explains the passing of the lights, and while everyone sang "Silent Night, Holy Night," hymn # 122 in our hymnal, “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission), the lights in the sanctuary were dimmed and candles are passed around to each person, each taking a turn lighting the candle from the person next to them. This was followed by the benediction, and everyone then sang "Joy to the World," hymn number 132 in our hymnal, “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). Our organist then played "Joy to the World," arr. by Gordon Young for the postlude. First Presbyterian Church 201 S. 5th Street P.O.
