Daily Catholic Mass Readings December 28, 2024

DAILY ROMAN CATHOLIC READINGS AND SPIRITUAL REFLECTIONS Saturday, 28th December 2024 ------------------------------------------------ SATURDAY, CHRISTMAS OCTAVE Feast of The Holy Innocents 1 Jn 1: 5 - 2: 2 Ps 124: 2-5, 7-8 Mt 2: 13-18 ------------------------------------------------ HE SAVES US FROM THE FOWLER’S SNARE A boy with an evil spirit, a blind man in Bethsaida, a bleeding woman, the disciples caught in the storm – the list goes on from eternity to eternity. He saved the Israelites from the Egyptians, and He continues to save you and me today. Our ever-loving God wills for all of us to be saved, while Satan attempts every day to destroy us. The only exchange for the saving love of God is our complete trust in Him. When we live in gratitude, we can experience His grace. On the contrary, when we are anxious, we get absorbed by our own self-doubt and fear. It is because Joseph listened to God’s instruction conveyed to him in a dream and obeyed undoubtingly like a good son, Jesus and Mary could be saved from the snares of Herod. We worry too much while traversing paths of trial and suffering. Yet on looking back, we realize that the delays and detours weren’t setbacks; they were God’s way of leading us to something better than we could ever have imagined. When the path seems unclear, trust His direction. How can we understand God’s direction? John says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just.” When we meditate on His word, we are blessed with the wisdom to understand what God is saying. When we pay attention to the finer aspects of our lives and listen to the inner voice, His grace begins to shape our decisions, our relationships, and our future – God can bless us, prosper us, and give us hope (cf. Jer 29:11). Jesus saved us by His ultimate sacrifice on a cross. Let not the ‘Herods’ of the world get us down. Trust in His personal love and salvation for He died not for men, - but for each man. If each man had been the only man made, He would have done no less! Response: Our life, like a bird, has escaped from the snare of the fowler
