Thank you for joining us on YouTube for our Palm Sunday Service (March 28, 2021). We began our service listening to our organist, Sarah Scovel, play "Fugues in C Major" by Dietrich Buxtehude. Our pastor, Rev. John P. Wilson, then made the announcements of the church, reminding those present and watching via Facebook Live, that there would be a special Maundy Thursday service at 5:30 p.m. and also a quiet meditation time in the Sanctuary on Good Friday from11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. He also invited everyone to attend either in person or by Facebook on Easter Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Our liturgist, Gary Hogsett, then lead the congregation in the Call to Worship, followed by singing # 196, "All Glory, Laud, and Honor," “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal.” Mr. Hogsett then read the Call to Confession followed by everyone reciting the Prayer of Confession in unison. This was followed by a few moments of silent prayers of confession. Mr. Hogsett then read the Assurance of Pardon, and led the congregation in singing the Gloria Patri. Mr. Hogsett then read the Prayer for Illumination, and then our Epistle Lesson, which came from Philippians 2:5-11. We were then delighted to listen to our member, Linda Shields, as she sang "He is Worthy," by Chris Tomlin. It was a beautiful rendition - thank you Linda for sharing your talents. Rev. Wilson then came forward and read the Gospel Lesson from Mark 11:1-11, followed by his sermon entitled "Where's the Band?" At the conclusion of Rev. Wilson's sermon, everyone sang "Ride On! Ride On in Majesty!" # 198 “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal.” This was followed by everyone reciting "The Apostles' Creed," which is found on page 35 in “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal.” Rev. Wilson then offered the concerns and joys of the Church, followed by prayers of the people for those listed, and those not listed but in our hearts. Normally at this time we would collect the gifts of the congregation, but with covid concerns those attending are asked to drop their gifts in the plates at the entrances as they enter or exit worship (those not attending are asked to consider mailing in their gifts). Our organist, Sarah Scovel, played an "Untitled," piece by J. G. Topfer. The congregation and those watching by Facebook were then asked to sing "The Doxology" followed by the Prayer of Thanksgiving and the Lord's Prayer. This was followed by the congregation joining in to sing "Hosanna, Loud Hosanna" hymn # 197 from “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal.” Rev. Wilson then gave the Charge and Benediction, which was followed by the Postlude, again played by Sarah Scovel, entitled "Praise the Lord with Drums and Cymbals" by Sigfrid Karg-Elert. We practice open communion, which means all are invited to participate in communion to learn about the grace of God. Children are dismissed for Sunday school during our service, but return for communion. Our Sunday services are taped live on an IPad on Facebook Live each Sunday, and then transferred to this YouTube Channel on Monday morning. If you would like to attend our services, we meet at 10:45 a.m. (CST). We ask all who attend to please wear a mask and sit according to directions listed on the pews for social distancing concerns. Any and all are welcomed to join us in worship. Apostles' Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell, the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
