#shorts #short Gospel "He has sent me to bring good news to the poor. No prophet is accepted in his own country." (Luke 4:16-30) Alleluia. Alleluia. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; he has sent me to bring good news to the poor. Alleluia. (Luke 4:18) Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke At that time, Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. As was his custom, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. The book of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He opened the book and found the passage where it is written: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because the Lord has anointed me. He has sent me to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the Lord's acceptable year. Jesus closed the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. Then all the eyes of the people in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he began to say to them, "Today this Scripture passage has been fulfilled in your ears." All bore witness to him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth. They said to one another, "Is not this the son of Joseph?" »     But he said to them, “Surely you will quote to me the saying, ‘Physician, heal yourself,’ and say, ‘We have heard all that happened in Capernaum; do the same here in your native land!’”     Then he added, “Truly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own homeland.     Truly, I say to you, in the days of the prophet Elijah, when the sky withheld rain for three and a half years and a great famine spread over all the land, there were many widows in Israel.     Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to the town of Zarephath in the land of Sidon, to a foreign widow.     In the days of the prophet Elisha, there were many lepers in Israel. and not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman the Syrian."     At this, in the synagogue, everyone became furious.      They got up, pushed Jesus out of the city, and led him to a steep place on the hill where their city was built, to throw him down.      But he, passing through the midst of them, went on his way.             – Let us acclaim the Word of God.
