The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed
Hello everyone and peace! All Souls Day invites us to live confidently in hope, rooted in the promise of eternal life given through Christ. The first reading reminds us that “the souls of the just are in the hand of God… the faithful shall abide with him in love.” When we pray for those who have died, we trust that they rest in God’s peace and are drawn ever closer to him. Our prayers become acts of love—expressions of our ongoing communion with the departed. In the second reading, we hear that “hope does not disappoint,” because “the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” We believe that death is not the end for those who believe in Christ; as we “died with him” through baptism, so too “we shall also live with him.” These words invite us to see our earthly departure in the light of resurrection. Through our faith and the sacraments we share, we remain intimately linked to both the living and the dead. In the Gospel, Jesus assures us: “Everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.” This is the foundation of our solidarity in Christ—we belong to one another in the Body of Christ, not only while alive, but beyond death. So when you come to Mass this All Souls Day, hold your loved ones in your heart, offer prayers for their journey, and let your hope in Christ’s promise of life shine through. In Jesus, our communion remains unbroken—and in our prayers, our love for one another continues. #ANCC #independentsacramentalmovement #LGBTQIaffirming #catholicreform #progressivecatholics #catholicfaith #CatholicMass #catholicmasstoday #catholiclife #catholicfaith #oldcatholic #NationalCatholic #DioceseofManagua
