Is Jesus God? šŸ“–ā¤ļøāœļø #God #Bible #Faith #Jesus #JesusChrist #fyp #viralvideo #viral #trending

The gospel is that we are all sinners and broke Godā€™s Law, and therefore deserve punishment. The commandments and rules that God gave the Jewish people in the Old Testament (613 in all) were meant to show that we canā€™t please God on our own - thereā€™s no way we could keep all those regulations perfectly. Especially because Jesus clarifies that sin in Godā€™s eyes is even worse than we understand - hating someone is the same as murder. Lust is the same as adultery. These rules go beyond our actions and actually go into our thoughts, which are impossible to control. We are in desperate need of a savior. In the Old Testament, the Jewish people offered animal sacrifices to God (by killing a lamb, a bull, or a goat) so that their sins could be forgiven. The idea was that their guilt was transferred upon the pure, blameless animal, and they were made clean. This is where we get the expression ā€œscapegoatā€. But this was only a temporary cleansing. It lasted only until the next sin. At best, it lasted until the next yearā€™s Day of Atonement, when the sacrifice needed to be repeated. The blood of an animal cannot permanently cleanse someone before God. In fact, we are so sinful that we need a perfect sacrifice. But this presents a problem for humans, because nothing is perfect except God alone. But how could God be our perfect sacrifice? How could God die? Heā€™s God. The answer is that God came to Earth as Jesus to take the punishment for our sin. He lived an absolutely perfect life and, unlike us, was without sin. Jesus was crucified and died on the cross. 3 days later He rose from death, proving that He is God. Jesus is our perfect sacrifice. When we realize the weight of our sin and that we canā€™t measure up on our own (613 rules! And we constantly break them every day by lying, disrespecting our parents, stealing, being jealous, angry, resentful, taking Godā€™s name in vain ā€œOMGā€). When we realize how hopelessly broken we are and that we canā€™t please God on our own - when we come to the end of our self - we find Jesus. When we do an honest assessment (and itā€™s hard to be honest! Our pride gets in the way) we realize we could never meet Godā€™s holy standard - itā€™s not just hard, itā€™s impossible. Itā€™s not a matter of fixing ourselves up, trying to be better, or self-improvement - itā€™s a matter of falling on our face in sorrow and desperation before God and saying ā€œGod, I canā€™t do it. But Jesus can - and He did.ā€ We canā€™t do it, but we donā€™t have to, because Jesus did. When we honestly admit our sins (I think about some of things Iā€™ve done and I still cry - I know I donā€™t deserve Godā€™s love and am unworthy), when we put our trust and faith in Jesus, trusting that He really was who He said He was, and truly is ā€œthe Wayā€ to God the Father (John 14:6) and will take us to heaven one day, we are permanently forgiven. It is the hardest thing to do (it is extremely difficult to admit we are hopelessly broken and canā€™t please God on our own), but it is the most rewarding. None of us is a ā€œgood personā€ - Jesus tells us that none is good but God alone (Mark 10:8). Our good deeds arenā€™t enough to please God or earn His favor - the Bible says our good works are like ā€œfilthy ragsā€ in Godā€™s sight (Isaiah 64:6). Our sin is that serious. Christianity is different from every other religion because all other religions will tell you what you have to DO to please God. However, Christianity is about what God has DONE for you because He loves you. He has made a way for you to be forgiven through Jesus alone. Our sin is not just about the things that we do - in our broken state, it is who we are. For example, we can try our best to stop lying, but we canā€™t change the broken nature that caused us to lie in the first place. Please let go of your good works and come to God empty-handed. God, I canā€™t offer you anything but my sorrow for my sin and the hope to humbly serve you with my life. Thank you for Jesus. Praying for all of you ā¤ļøšŸ˜Šāœļø
