Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a stand-alone "expansion" for Far Cry 3. The info was leaked when Brazilian ratings had this game in their list. The story is not canon to Far Cry 3, but gameplay mechanics stay the same. The game's retrospective story, characters and visual style are inspired by 1980's action movies, especially the films of Arnold Schwarzenegger, such as Commando, The Terminator, and Predator, and Sylvester Stallone in Cobra, Rambo, and Rocky IV. Other pop-culture references are inspired by RoboCop and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, among others. It is intended to be a fun, campy game, but the danger is still very palpable and can result in a quick death if not taken seriously. Those that pre-order the PC version of the game also receive a copy of the game's soundtrack. The setting is an alternative 2007. From the toxic ashes of Vietnam War II, the "apocalypse has had an apocalypse" and a cyborg army called the Omega Force plots to take over the world. Enter Sergeant Rex Power Colt, a new breed of renegade soldier - part man, part machine, all cyber commando- as he embarks on his deadliest mission yet to uncover the mastermind behind this new threat. The game opens with Rex and Lieutenant T.T. "Spider" Brown en route to an unknown island suspected of harboring the new cyborg army. After infiltrating a garrison, Rex and Spider learn that Omega Force is ran by none other than Colonel Ike Sloan -- Rex and Spider's former commanding officer, who has establish Danko Base on the island as his forward command. Pursuing further into the facility, Rex and Spider uncover it to be a secret missile silo containing a Red Spear missile, an ICBM used to nuke Canada. With the assistance of Dr. Elizabeth Darling, Sloan has modified it into a bio-weapon to deliver an aerosolized agent extracted from the island's most notable species: the Blood Dragons -- mutated Komodo Dragons with the ability to shoot lasers from their eyes! The patriotic duo arrive at the command console, where Spider must use his Cybernetics to manually stop the launch sequence after an attempt to hack the console fails. Meanwhile, Rex must defend their position single-handedly against oncoming waves of Omega Force. After Spider fails to stop the launch sequence, Rex succeeds by tearing out the missile's wiring, gutting it like a fish and twarthing Sloan's terrorist plot. But after being extracted by Helodrone 7-3, Rex and Spider are shot-down and captured by Sloan.
