Sunday Mass Gospel Readings and Reflection - October 23, 2022 God dwells in hearts emptied of selfishness and pride. When we include our neighbors in our prayers, let our intention be for their well-being and welfare as well. Prayer should be free from boasting and pretension. Before God, we should learn to strike our breast and recognize that we, like other people, are in need of his mercy and compassion. Today, as we observe the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we also celebrate World Mission Sunday with a theme “You shall be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8). Pope Francis encourages us to be missionaries and witnesses to Christ. May we carry out our missionary task with hearts like that of Jesus.
