Honor God in your heart.

Honor God in your heart.

8/27/2023 morning worship service Pastor Anthony Fields " "Listen to Me , “I Love You”–‘I Am’ Disappointed" Malachi 2:9 Is it possible to live under a divine curse today? Yes, it is possible. Yes, God still loves you and, like a parent, He is disappointed when we do not listen and there are consequences. There is an escape from the curse and I pray that we will take the steps to step away from the curse and to stand upon the ground of God's blessing. I. THE REASON FOR GOD'S DISAPPOINTMENT - CHAPTER 2:1-2 As we read our text today, we note that a two-fold rebellion had developed in the life of God's people and it was bringing a curse from God upon the land. A. They had a hearing problem (Deuteronomy 18:19; Isaiah 65:12) B. They had a heart problem (Revelation 2) II. THE REASON FOR GOD'S DISAPPOINTMENT - CHAPTER 2:2-4 We must understand the meaning of the word curse and what a curse from God involves. A. A Warning Always Proceeds Divine Judgment God never sends judgment without warning (Genesis 3:14, 17; 1 Corinthians 15:22) B. The Curse Affects Everyone (Joshua 5) Purposes for divine curse or judgment 1. FIRST: God’s Desire to Correct Something 2. SECOND: God’s Desire to Protect Something III. REMOVAL OF GOD'S DISAPPOINTMENT - CHAPTER 2:5-6 God’s covenant offer of love and peace Let us make a new commitment today to listen to the Lord and to follow Him with all our hearts." ________________________ " "Think on This: Does God Is Love Mean We Can Get Away with Anything?" If God is love, does that mean we can get away with anything? That's an interesting question. The short answer is no, but let's unpack that answer. We know that God is love, and in His love, He sent Jesus into the world to save us (John 3:16-17). But we can't stop there. In Romans 5:20-21 the apostle Paul tells us that where sin increased, grace increased more. He explains that grace "reigns through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ. But we can't stop there either. In Romans 6, Paul tells us how we are to live in light of God's incredible gift to us. Here are a few powerful verses from that chapter though I recommend reading the whole thing." ____________________ " "What Seeds Are You Planting?" Hosea 10 in Hosea 10, Israel is described as a healthy vine destroyed by vanity. The sins of the people are compared to seeds that produce poisonous weeds. The people planted wickedness and reaped evil. ▪︎ Consider the ground in your heart. Is it walled-up with sin? ▪︎ How can you plow the ground to better receive God and all He wants to offer you? ▪︎ What's one way you can humble yourself and allow the Holy Spirit to change your heart and mind?"
