Reading 1: 1 Corinthians 15:12-20 Saint Paul addresses the Corinthians, asking how some can deny the resurrection of the dead if Christ has been preached as risen. Paul explains that if there is no resurrection, then Christ has not been raised, rendering both preaching and faith meaningless. Moreover, if Christ has not risen, believers are still in their sins, and those who have died in Christ are lost. However, Paul declares triumphantly that Christ has been raised, the "firstfruits" of those who have fallen asleep, affirming the hope of resurrection for all believers. Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 17:1BCD, 6-7, 8B, and 15 R. Lord, when your glory appears, my joy will be full. The psalmist calls out to the Lord for justice and mercy, seeking refuge and protection under God’s wings. With confidence, the psalmist affirms that in the presence of God’s glory, they will experience fullness of joy. Gospel: Luke 8:1-3 Jesus continues His journey, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God, accompanied by the Twelve and several women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities. Among them are Mary Magdalene, from whom seven demons were cast out, Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward, Susanna, and others who supported Jesus and His ministry through their resources. Reflection Today’s readings highlight the hope and power of resurrection. Paul’s passionate defense of the resurrection emphasizes that our faith rests on the truth of Christ’s rising from the dead, which assures eternal life for all believers. The psalm invites us to place our trust in God, confident that His glory will fill us with joy. In the Gospel, we see the faithful women who followed Jesus, serving and supporting His ministry. Their dedication reminds us that we too are called to serve Christ with our resources and hearts. As we honor Saints Andrew Kim Tae-gŏn, Paul Chŏng Ha-sang, and their companions today, we reflect on their unwavering faith, even in the face of persecution and death. Their martyrdom reminds us of the cost of discipleship but also the ultimate reward: eternal life with Christ. Thank you for joining us on The Holy Way.
