It is the sixteenth instalment in the Ratchet & Clank series. The game will take place after the events of both 2013's Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, the last game in the called Future Saga, and 2016's Ratchet & Clank, which served as a re-imagining of the first game in the series. According to the studio, it will also feature a full length stand-alone storyline that will appeal to newcomers of the series. It was announced at the PlayStation 5 reveal event in June 2020. The game will be released on June 11, 2021. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart creative director Marcus Smith will show off “brand-new gameplay with Rivet, deeper looks at some of the new weapons from the out-of-this-world-arsenal, and glimpses at the variety of worlds, characters and gameplay you’ll experience in the full game,” Insomniac community director James Stevenson said on the PlayStation Blog. Rivet is Rift Apart’s new playable Lombax, whose identity was revealed earlier this week. Sony said not to expect any “hardware or business-focused updates in this show – just loads of explodey goodness.” Set your expectations accordingly!
