St Andrew Lutheran Church Parsippany NJ 12/18/22 - Sermon -4th Sunday of Advent

Join St Andrew Lutheran Church in Parsippany NJ on the 4th Sunday in Advent. Today we hear Matthew's story of Joseph and the angel's message and challenge to Joseph to accept her, her child, and that God was doing something big here. And as usual, the angel's first words are "Be not afraid" and tells Joseph that all that is happening is part of the fulfillment of God's plan. Joseph is a faithful servant of God, as much as Mary. They both say "yes" to God when their plans and their world seemed to be falling apart, when the world seemed to be swamped in darkness. God promises to be with them, and with us, in our "holy darkness." When we let God walk with us in our "holy darkness" and we trust in Him, He will heal us and love us. He will be "God with us." St Andrew is a welcoming and joyful congregation of the ELCA (www.elca.org) We invite you to worship with us and learn how the all-encompassing love of God calls us out into our communities as beacons of hope in the world.
