KAWASAN FALLS EPIC ADVENTURE BADIAN CEBU PHILIPPINES || FILIPINA CANADIAN COUPLE || VLOG #37 It’s a short 30 minute scooter ride from Moalboal Town proper to Kawasan falls. The drive down Santander - Barili - Toledo Rd offers you time to relax and take in the beautiful coastal scenery as you drive through small villages, forest canopies, mountain flanked valleys and coastal vistas of the Tanon Strait! If riding a scooter is not your thing, you can just jump on a bus and get to your destination for around 60 Philippine pesos. For those of you following the foreign currency exchange index that is about $1:50 can at time of publishing. If you do take the bus, make sure to try and get a window seat on the passenger right of the vehicle as you don’t want to miss out on those beautiful coastal views. That said, if you can drive a scooter, take one, you won’t regret it. After a short meeting and equipment briefing at M.C.RICH Canyoneering; we jump aboard a motorcycle for our first Habal Habal experience. For the uninitiated “habal habal” refers to the practice of three or more passengers mounting the same motorcycle at once. It may seem dangerous in theory, but is actually quite safe in practice if you have riding experience. If you have never been on a bike before perhaps searching out a tricycle would be the better option. Our driver John John was expert in his skill level and spirited us up the mountain pass without once eliciting cause for concern. Thanks for the nice ride John John. After the initial shock of the overwhelming beauty of this place subsides, something even more magical occurs; all concerns past, present and future dissolve and disappear as if carried away in the cool sparkling water, and we are left with nothing but the moment. We take rest in the cool mountain water and talk in the present… about the moment … about the water and its source …from high in the mountains… where it springs forth from the rocks… as if by some strange magic. It then occurs to me that this is why we do this. This is why we explore and adventure. We do this to commune with the source and rediscover ourselves ….in the moment. Nearing the end of our journey we now take flight to survey the majesty and beauty of Kawasan falls. The power and destructive force of typhoon Odette is clearly visible as we rise above the forest canopy. The falls stone face, no longer draped in a carpet of green foliage now looks back at us naked and barren. The Hotel and service buildings at the base of the falls lay in a heap of rubble… and yet….beauty persists! Nature is like that, she gives and takes and gives back again… Slowly the carpet of green will return and the local community and businesses will rebuild what was once there. Restoration and new life will return and life will go on as usual at Kawasan falls. If you are thinking of visiting Kawasan falls, don’t wait, go now! Go and be part of the recovery! There is still plenty of majestic beauty to enjoy and most of all your presence will provide the local community with the encouragement and capital they need to get the job of restoration done. After our day of exploration has concluded all that remains to be said is one final word and that is Thank You. Thank you to the beautiful people of South Cebu for showing us such wonderful hospitality under such trying circumstances and special thanks to our tour guide Jong … you’re awesome dude! #KawasanFalls #Canyoneering #BadianCebu #philippinesvlog Links: Our You Tube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsj2...
