November 25, 2023 Faith Beyond the Temporal 1st Reading - 1 Maccabees 6:1-13 Gospel - Luke 20:27-40 In the reading from 1 Maccabees, we find a narrative of perseverance in the face of adversity. As King Antiochus sought to enforce his will, the people's commitment to their faith remained unshaken. This account inspires contemplation on the enduring nature of faith and the strength it provides in times of challenge. The Gospel of Luke presents a theological dialogue between Jesus and the Sadducees about the nature of resurrection. Jesus, with profound wisdom, transcends the temporal concerns presented to Him, emphasizing the eternal perspective of life beyond this world. This dialogue prompts reflection on the essence of faith in the face of existential questions. These readings encourage us to consider the resilience of our faith when confronted with challenges and questions about the nature of life and death. How can we cultivate a faith that goes beyond the immediate circumstances and anchors itself in the eternal truths proclaimed by Jesus? Today, I will invest time in deepening my understanding of the eternal truths of my faith. In the face of challenges and uncertainties, I will strive to anchor my perspective in the enduring nature of God's promises, fostering a faith that transcends temporal concerns.
