Dr. Andrew McDonald Worship/Music Notes The opening voluntary is by the Italian composer Domenico Cimarosa (1749‐1801), in an arrangement from his Concerto for Oboe and String Orchestra. Cimarosa wrote more than 80 operas as well as music for the church. The closing voluntary is by Johann Gottfried Walther (1684‐1748), a German music theorist, organist, and composer who was also a cousin of J.S. Bach. Mikhail Ippolitov‐Ivanoff (1859‐1935) was a Russian conductor, teacher and composer, whose style is similar to his teacher, Nikolai Rimsky‐Korsakov. Herbert Howells (1892‐1983) was an English composer and organist who is well known for his Anglican church music.
