Walking in Wisdom and Embracing Unity 1st Reading - Sir 4:11-19 Gospel - Mk 9:38-40 In the first reading from Sirach, wisdom is described as a loving mother who guides and nurtures those who seek her. She tests those who follow her, refining them through trials, but never abandons those who remain faithful. Walking in wisdom requires patience and perseverance, as God uses challenges to strengthen our character. This passage reminds us that seeking divine wisdom leads to growth, protection, and ultimately, a deeper relationship with God. In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus teaches His disciples a powerful lesson about inclusion and unity. When they try to stop someone from casting out demons in His name, Jesus corrects them, saying, “Whoever is not against us is for us.” He reminds them that God's work is not limited to a select few, and even small acts of kindness, like giving a cup of water, have great value in His kingdom. This passage challenges us to reject jealousy and division, embracing the good that others do in Christ’s name. Together, these readings invite us to seek wisdom and live with an open heart. God’s wisdom strengthens us through trials, teaching us to trust in His plan. At the same time, Jesus calls us to recognize His work beyond our own circle and to encourage, rather than hinder, those who serve in His name. When we walk in wisdom and unity, we reflect God’s love more fully in the world. Today, I will seek wisdom by embracing life’s challenges as opportunities for growth. I will support and encourage others in their journey of faith, instead of comparing or competing with them. When I see goodness in others, I will recognize it as God’s work and give thanks. With an open heart, I will choose humility, unity, and wisdom in all that I do.
