Daily Bread Devotional: Devotional Topic: Calling Him Lord Verse of the Day: Luke 6:46 (NLT) Devotional Message: (Luke 6:46) So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? It is so easy to speak half truths. It is easy to say we are committed to a cause and yet not live that way. What exactly is loyalty? Jesus asked this in His day. People were beginning to follow Him just for the miracles or food and not for the new spiritual reality He was teaching. What was worst, people said that they were followers of Christ but ignored His words. He compared this to a person who was building a house. Jesus insisted that if you are going to build a house, build it on a good foundation. Likewise, if you are going to build a life worth living, then it must be built on a good foundation of the teachings and person of Jesus Christ. Jesus was right. He said that you can call Him a lot of things, but if you are going to call Him Lord, you have to do what He says. Prayer: Father, help me follow You. Be the Lord of my life and help me build my life on a solid foundation of Your word. Amen.
