Saucy & Flavorful Chicken Chow Mein A quick and delicious stir-fry that’s loaded with tender chicken, crisp veggies, and the perfect savory sauce. This homemade takeout favorite comes together in just 30 minutes. Ingredients For the Sauce: 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium) 2 tablespoons oyster sauce 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce 1 tablespoon cornstarch 1 tablespoon brown sugar 1 teaspoon sesame oil 1/4 cup chicken broth For the Chow Mein: 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable or sesame) 1 pound chicken breast, thinly sliced 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 onion, thinly sliced 1 cup carrots, julienned 1 cup cabbage, shredded 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced 14 ounces chow mein noodles (or thin egg noodles), cooked and drained Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish Instructions Prepare the Sauce In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, sesame oil, and chicken broth until smooth. Set aside. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken and stir-fry until golden and cooked through, about five to six minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside. Add the remaining oil to the pan. Toss in the garlic, onion, carrots, cabbage, and bell pepper. Stir-fry for three to four minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp. Return the cooked chicken to the pan and pour in the sauce. Stir and cook for two to three minutes until the sauce thickens. Toss in the cooked noodles and stir until everything is evenly coated in the sauce. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
