In fact, the U.S. Navy has equipped all four aircraft carriers of the 1st and 2nd Aviation Squadrons, which are the elite Japanese troops. However, most of the pilots, which are the core forces, survived and rescued, and the loss of their comrades served as an opportunity to raise the morale of the Japanese army, and they prepared for the battle in the midway. The navy we will talk about today is the battle between elite troops in the Pacific War, the Battle of Santa Cruz. In June 1942, Japan lost a big defeat in the Battle of Midway, and the offensive defense strategy of the capture of Midway and the attack on Hawaii was completely frustrated. However, Japanese aviation forces still remain, and the United States lands on Tulagi Island and Guadalcanal Island in the Solomon Islands to protect the supply line with Australia. At that time, the Japanese army was constructing an airfield on Guadalcanal Island, but the US military took the airfield and named it Henderson Airfield to build a base. However, the Japanese army did not stand still. Henderson Airfield was strategically very important. From the Japanese military's point of view, by seizing this place, the maritime supply route between Australia and the United States was checked and Australia was isolated. In the case of the United States, on the other hand, if Henderson Airfield is protected, it becomes possible to intercept Japanese aviation forces along with aircraft bases in Australia. In response, the Japanese military sent a mobile unit consisting mainly of regular carriers, Shokaku-class first ship Shokaku and second-ship Zuikaku, and light port carrier Ryuzo. To prevent this, the U.S. was with the Yorktown-class second ship Enterprise and Lexington class second ship Saratoga. Soup was sent to the sea area, and although the Enterprise was medium-sized after the battle between August 24th and 25th, he succeeded in stopping Henderson Airfield by destroying Ryujo. This naval battle is called the Battle of Eastern Solomon, and in fact, it was the outpost of the fleet air war that will take place in the future. The U.S. had stopped Japanese aircraft carriers, but Japanese surface ships were still strong, and for this reason, Japanese troops harassed the U.S. by bombarding airfields and returning in the morning, taking advantage of the night's silence of the aircraft.
