At its highest level (when you've learnt enough alchemy perks and unlocked "secret of secrets" which will let you craft it) it will give you not only the usual benefits but also a 50% experience bonus for two days. Make a bunch of them and it'll be super useful because it'll boost how quickly you're levelling up!
