All Rights Reserved --- The diary of an abandoned dog (어느 유기견의 일기) 동물자유연대에서 발간하는 2022 유실-유기동물 분석 리포트에 따르면 2022년 유기, 유실된 애완동물은 약 11만 2천 마리 발생한 것으로 조사되었습니다. 2019년 이후 3년 연속 유기동물 발생 수가 감소하고는 있지만, 여전히 많은 수의 애완동물들이 어린 시절의 귀여움으로 보금자리를 찾았다가 버림을 받고 있습니다. 이 이야기는 어느날, 그렇게 버림을 받았던 멍멍이 한 마리의 서글픈 주인찾아 삼만리를 다루고 있습니다.. 이 1분짜리 영상시 작업을 했던 시기에 조사했던 자료는 포인핸드에서 제공했던 2017년 8월자의 보도자료에 따르면 당시 1월부터 8월까지 전국에서 구조된 유기동물은 총 5만5천399마리로, 하루에 262마리의 동물을 사람들이 버려야만 나올 수 있는 수치였다고 합니다. 그리고 이 수치는 2016년 같은 기간에 집계된 유기동물 수보다 9.8% 증가했다고 했었습니다. 그로부터 5년이 지난 2022년의 자료에는 비록 수치는 2배 정도로 늘어 있지만 유기동물의 발생 수가 조금씩 줄어들고 있다고 하니 이것은 희망이 아닐까요. 하지만 비품종 고양이나 강아지들의 경우에는 오히려 증가하고 있다고 하니, 우리가 노력하며 나아가야 할 길은 아직도 멀고 먼 것 같습니다. ------------------------ 6. 나 여기 있어. (I'm Here.) 제리를 만날 생각에 크게 흥분한 나는 멍멍 짖어대며 주변을 뛰어 다니기 시작했다. 며칠을 제대로 먹지도 못하고 잠도 제대로 자지 못했던 일들 따위는 없었던 일인 것처럼 갑자기 힘이 솟아나기 시작했다. 제리! 제리! 어디에 있나요? 아! 저기 길 건너에 그의 뒷모습이 보인다. 나는 전속력을 다해서 그에게 달려갔다. 끼이이익 쿵 제리는 웅성거리는 사람들의 소리에 뒤를 돌아 길을 보았다. 트럭 한 대가 갑자기 뛰어든 개 한 마리를 친 모양이다. ‘목줄을 제대로 채우지 않았으면 관리를 제대로 했어야지. 주인이 누군지 모르겠지만 저런 사람들은 개를 키우면 안돼.’ 제리는 고개를 흔들며 불편한 표정을 짓고는 곧 그를 기다리는 여자친구를 향해 걸어갔다. 두 손에 든 아이스크림을 높이 들어 보이며. / No matter how hungry and tired I felt, the anticipation of seeing Jerry soon filled me with renewed strength, urging me to run faster. "If you hadn't let your dog loose, you should have been more careful, you idiot. People like that shouldn't own dogs." Jerry shook his head, looking uncomfortable, then walked towards his waiting girlfriend. He lifted the ice cream cones he held in his hands high above his head./ Peu importe à quel point j'étais affamé et fatigué, la pensée de retrouver bientôt Jerry me donna la force de me mettre à courir à nouveau. Je n'arrivais pas à me relever, même s'il était juste devant moi. "Jerry, je suis ici." Jerry se retourna au son des murmures des gens et regarda vers le bas de la route. Il semblait qu'un camion avait soudainement heurté un chien qui avait sauté. "Si tu n'avais pas laissé ton chien en liberté, tu aurais dû être plus prudent, idiot. Les gens comme ça ne devraient pas avoir de chiens." Jerry secoua la tête, visiblement mal à l'aise, puis se dirigea vers sa petite amie qui l'attendait.
