Here are some recent updates / descriptions related to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC): --- 📢 IRCTC / Indian Railways updates From 1 October 2025, online bookings for reserved general tickets on the IRCTC platform (website or mobile app) will require the user account to be Aadhaar-authenticated, especially during the first 15 minutes after the general reservation window opens. The goal is to curb misuse, fraudulent bookings and make ticketing fairer for genuine passengers. For the Tatkal scheme (last-minute ticket bookings), stricter rules have been introduced:   • From 1 July 2025, only Aadhaar-verified IRCTC users are allowed to book Tatkal tickets online in the first 30 minutes. Agents are restricted during that initial window.   • From 15 July 2025, all Tatkal bookings (online, counters, agent bookings) will require OTP verification linked with Aadhaar. There is also discussion / planning for a feature that would allow passengers with confirmed e-tickets to reschedule journey dates (changing date of travel) without canceling and rebooking, and presumably without extra charges. This is expected to roll out in near future (early next year). IRCTC is tightening identity verification (using Aadhaar) to ensure only verified passengers can book tickets especially in critical windows (first few minutes of general or Tatkal booking).
