Bread Pudding
Bread Pudding by Deborah D Dawn Munro, copyright 2025 I had some stale bread leftover yesterday, and I thought, "Hey, bread isn't good to feed to birds, so I'll do what I used to do, what my mother used to do -- what my ancestors used to do -- I'll make a bread pudding." (And I can't feed the birds easily anymore anyway -- I have to bring my offerings to a local park to put out for them.) The thought of delicious, old-fashioned bread pudding had my mouth watering. I had milk in the fridge, and sugar and cinnamon in the cupboards... Except I didn't have any raisins. So I added raisins to my grocery list before heading to the store. Remember -- stale bread to use up -- there were two sizes of bags of raisins on the shelf at No Frills: small, and smaller, $8.99 and $12.99. Guess who isn't baking bread pudding? (Are you KIDDING me, No Frills?!!!) The last bag of raisins I bought was a HUGE bag for $1.99! We grow grapes in Ontario, less than a one-hour drive from Toronto.
