The Rise of Skywalker Ending Explained
Skywalker has ascended, and his nine-episode saga has ended. We've lost our holocrons, and our Sith Guides have been sucked down a space toilet, so all that's left for us is to analyze everything that the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker meant. Huge spoilers ahead. For a science fiction film franchise like Star Wars, it's normal to have a lot of supernatural and ectoplasmic beings roaming the galaxy. Of course, we're more than used to encountering Force Ghosts by now. Ever since Obi-Wan told Luke to turn off his damn iPhone so he could shoot the Death Star, fans have accepted the fact that when you're worthy of the Force, you gain the ability to appear wherever you please as a ghost. And when Yoda himself appeared in The Last Jedi to teach Luke one last lesson, it became clear that Force Ghosts would play a role in the story that went far beyond simply imparting wisdom. So… who, or what, are those unsavory figures surrounding Emperor Palpatine on Exegol at the film's climax? Well, we're pretty sure they're none other than… Force Ghosts! According to Palpatine, all Sith reside within him, so that leads us to believe that those hooded figures present during the final scenes were something like Sith specters. Meanwhile, as Rey says at the end, the Jedi Force Ghosts live within her. And if that weren't enough, the scene featured the voices of the original actors who portrayed the powerful Jedi, including Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker and Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, the famous protagonists of the prequel trilogy, among many others. #RiseOfSkywalker #EndingExplained #RiseOfSkywalkerExplained Force Ghosts | 0:20 The Redemption of Ren | 1:52 Better Late Than Never | 3:10 Strength in Unity | 4:16 The End of the Empire | 5:45 The Future of a Galaxy Far, Far Away | 6:38
