Pongal card making easy | Pongal festival greeting card | How to make Pongal festival card Hi friends, welcome to my channel Suvomam Creative. Pongal is a vibrant and joyous festival celebrated predominantly in Tamil Nadu, India, to mark the harvest season. It usually falls in mid-January and is dedicated to the Sun God, symbolizing gratitude for the year's bountiful harvest. The festival gets its name from the dish "Pongal," which is made by cooking rice with milk and jaggery, symbolizing abundance and prosperity. According to tradition, the festival marks the end of winter solstice, and the start of the sun's six-month-long journey northwards (the Uttara Yanam) when the sun enters the zodiac Makara (Capricorn). The festival is named after the ceremonial "Pongal", which means "to boil, overflow" and refers to the traditional dish prepared from the new harvest of rice boiled in milk with jaggery (raw sugar). To mark the festival, the Pongal sweet dish is prepared, first offered to the gods and goddesses (goddess Pongal), followed sometimes with an offering to cows, and then shared by the family. Festive celebrations include decorating cows and their horns, ritual bathing and processions. It is traditionally an occasion for decorating rice-powder based Kolam artworks, offering prayers in the home, temples, getting together with family and friends, and exchanging gifts to renew social bonds of solidarity. Pongal is one of the most important festivals celebrated by Tamil people in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in India. It is also a major Tamil festival in Sri Lanka. It is observed by the Tamil diaspora worldwide, including those in Malaysia, Mauritius, South Africa, Singapore, United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. The festival spans four days, each with distinct rituals, including the decoration of homes, the worship of cows, and the flying of kites. Families come together to prepare traditional dishes, and people wear new clothes and engage in various cultural activities such as dance and music. Pongal is not just a time for celebration, but also a reflection of the agricultural roots and deep cultural values of the region. #pongal, #pongalfestivals, #festivals, #pongalkolam, #card, #cardmaking Please SUBSCRIBE & click the BELL ICON for 1st received latest more video.
