September 22 Gospel of the Day Commentary Blessing ☩ Liturgy of the Word

GOSPEL with Commentary and Blessing. Gospel of the day Monday, September 22, 2025 Audio Gospel of the day in Italian with commentary by    / @frastefano   Liturgy of the Word today, from the Gospel according to Luke Glory to you, O Lord Luke 8:16-18 At that time, Jesus said to the crowd: "No one lights a lamp and covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand, so that those who come in may see the light. There is nothing secret that will not be revealed, and nothing hidden that will not be known and come to light. Therefore be careful how you listen; for to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away." Word of the Lord Praise to you, O Christ In this passage, Jesus tells us something simple yet powerful: when you light a lamp, you don't hide it under the bed or in a closet, you put it up high so that it shines on everyone. Look, we too are a bit like that lamp. Inside us, there's something good that God has placed within us: a kind word, a gesture of love, faith, a smile, the way we are close to those who suffer. And all this shouldn't be kept hidden. Sometimes, out of fear or shyness, we hide. We think, "What can I do?" But Jesus tells us: what you have, even if small, has value. And if you make it available, it can illuminate someone's life. And then there's something else he says: "To him who has, more will be given, but from him who has not, even what he thinks he has will be taken away." What does this mean? That if you use the goodness you have inside you, if you let it circulate, it grows. But if you keep it closed, you lose it. It's like love: if you keep it only for yourself, it goes out. If you give it away, it multiplies. So today we could simply ask ourselves: Am I letting a little light shine through me? – Or am I hiding out of fear, laziness, or mistrust? There's no need for grand speeches. A gesture, a word, something that says: "I'm here. And I bring a little light to the world."
