GOSPEL OF THE DAY 01/26/2025 Lk 1,1-4; 4,14-21 TODAY'S DAILY HOMILY DAILY LITURGY eVIVA
Today's Gospel reveals to us Jesus' central mission: to bring liberation, healing, and hope. He proclaims that "the Spirit of the Lord is upon me" to accomplish God's will, showing that his coming is not just a historical event, but an ongoing transformation for our lives. This text teaches us that Jesus came to reach those who feel lost, oppressed, and without direction. He invites us to recognize our own prisons—whether fear, hurt, or lack of faith—and to allow Him to set us free. Today, the Gospel calls us to assume our role as disciples. With the strength of the Holy Spirit, we can bring the same Good News to the world. This message has the power to transform our vision, bringing hope and purpose to our journey. May we embrace this liberation and live God's grace fully. At that time, 4:14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and his fame spread throughout the whole region. 15 He taught in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. 16 He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. As was his custom, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read. 17 They gave him the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Opening the scroll, Jesus found the place where it is written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor; he has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” 20 Then he closed the scroll, gave it to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21Then he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” – The Word of the Savior.
