God of the living (Luke 20:27-40) | Father Edilberto Alves da Costa | November 22, 2025
Gospel of the Day (Luke 20:27-40) | Daily Homily with Father Edilberto Alves da Costa Saint Francis of Assisi Parish – Jaguaré | November 22, 2025 --- Gospel (Luke 20:27-40): At that time, some Sadducees, who deny the resurrection, approached Jesus and asked him this question: "Teacher, Moses wrote for us: If a man's brother dies, leaving a wife, and no children, the man must marry the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. Now there were seven brothers. The first married and died without leaving children. The second and the third also married her, and so it happened with all seven: they all died without leaving children. Finally, the woman also died. In the resurrection, whose wife will she be? For all seven were married to her." Jesus answered: "Those who belong to this world marry and are given in marriage. But those who are considered worthy of the resurrection from the dead and of sharing in the age to come neither marry nor are given in marriage. They can no longer die, for they will be like the angels and will be children of God, because they have risen from the dead. And that the dead rise, Moses showed in the passage about the burning bush, when he calls the Lord ‘The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive." Some of the teachers of the law said, "Teacher, you have spoken well." And they did not dare to ask him any more questions. --- 🙏 Come and participate in our masses at the São Francisco de Assis Parish – Jaguaré: Tuesday to Thursday: 7 PM Friday: 7 AM and 3 PM Saturday: 5 PM Sunday: 7 AM, 9 AM, 11 AM and 7 PM 📍 Address: São Francisco de Assis Parish Av.
