Gallstones pass through urine or stool? ========================================= Gallstones are small, hard deposits that form in the gallbladder, a small organ located below the liver. Here are some key points about gallstones: Gallstones are very common, with around 10-15% of adults They are more common in women, people over the age of 40, and those who are overweight or obese. Gallstones often don't cause any symptoms and are discovered incidentally during medical imaging tests. However, if a gallstone blocks the bile duct, it can cause sudden and severe pain in the upper right side of the abdomen, known as a gallbladder attack. Other symptoms of gallstones can include nausea, vomiting, fever, and yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice). Gallstones are usually diagnosed with ultrasound or other imaging tests. Treatment depends on the severity of symptoms and can range from pain management to surgical removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomy).
