Pokémon Legends: Z-A Playthrough 1: Arriving at Lumiose City

Pokémon Legends: Z-A Playthrough 1: Arriving at Lumiose City

Time for a new Pokémon Legends adventure, but this time it takes place in the Kalos region. This is Pokémon Legends: Z-A, this game takes place years after the events of Pokémon X & Y, and at the start of the game, the main protagonist arrives there by train where they arrive at Lumoise City, and some unusual events are happening at the Prism Tower, and they encounter a Trainer with some Pokémon, and one of these Pokémon would become our first partner for our new adventure. As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description 12 years have passed since the release of Pokémon X & Y for the 3DS, which was when we were introduced to the Kalos region, and we are back there for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, it is on the Nintendo Switch, and it is also on Nintendo Switch 2 where it performs better. I pick my character, and I go with the girl for this one, her canon name is Harmony, which was used in pre-release trailers, and the main character's gender affects your rival, for example, if you play as the girl, your rival is a boy named Urbain, if you play as the boy, his default name is Paxton, your rival is a girl named Taunie. When you start the game, two people are investigating a strange event happening at Prism Tower, and a tall man and his unusual-looking Floette appear, then we arrive at Lumiose City at the train station and we see various people with Pokémon. Then we leave the station and meet up with Urbain, who has a Chikorita, Totodile, and Tepig alongside him, those must be the starters, or first-partner Pokémon, of this game. Then we see an advertisement about Lumiose City from a woman named Jett, the CEO of Quasartico Inc., and she brings out a Skiddo while she talks about Pokémon. Then after a bit of a dialogue, a Pancham takes our bag, so it is time to follow it, and we find out that it is not a wild Pokémon, it has a Trainer. We meet up with two Trainers, the Backpacker is called Andi, and she is Pancham's Trainer, and the other Trainer is named Andre, and they took on Urbain in the Z-A Royale, and after some dialogue, Urbain lends his Pokémon, which will be our first partner, you can only choose one, and you do get funny dialogue for Andi if you try to take her Pancham. Time to go over the starters, first is the Grass-type Chikorita, and if you are wondering about their evolutions, I won't go too much into detail about the secret behind their final evolutions, as I don't want to spoil that. Chikorita is a defensive Pokémon that tends to use support moves like Leech Seed and Light Screen, it learns Leafage at Level 6, and it picks up Razor Leaf at Level 12. Chikorita learns Disarming Voice, giving it a Fairy-type move, it is a solid choice, and it does focus on special moves for most of its attacks. The Fire-type Tepig has HP for its best stat, and it is the slowest out of the three when fully evolved, it is a mixed attacker that has a higher Attack stat. It learns Ember at Level 6, and it picks up moves like Rollout and Flame Wheel through level up. It becomes a Fire/Fighting-type when it evolves and learns Fighting-type moves, it is a good Fire-type choice. The Water-type Totodile has Attack for its best stat, and while it gets Water Gun at Level 6, its first physical Water-type move is Aqua Jet, which it learns at Level 21. It picks up physical moves like Bite and Breaking Swipe through level up, if you want to use a Water-type, it is a good Pokémon to go with. Once you have picked your first partner, you then battle Andi and her Pancham, and in battles, moves have a cooldown for when you can use them again, and you can use moves like Tail Whip or Leer to lower Defense to help deal more damage with Tackle. Once you have won the battle, it becomes nighttime, which is when the Z-A Royale happens, and we have to follow Urbain to escape the Battle Zone, but we end up fighting a Trainer who uses a Cleffa and a Bunnelby. Then when we get close to the exit, we find several Trainers with a Heracross, Pansear, and Honedge, and before a battle could start, the Floette with the unusual flower shows up and unleashes a powerful laser attack to drive off the Trainers. Then we arrive at Hotel Z, and there we meet up with AZ, the owner of the hotel, and he looks really tall, he is 3000 years old, making him the oldest person in all of Pokémon history, or in any kind of history, you kind of wonder how in the world he managed to live this long, I know it is explained in Pokémon X & Y, but it still surprises me. After receiving the key to our room, Urbain shows me the rooftop of Hotel Z, and AZ talks about the Zygarde Cell. Next time, that is when our adventure in Lumiose City begins.
