Homily for the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ ( Corpus Christi ), Year B
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, today we celebrate Corpus Christi, focusing on "The Blood of the New Covenant." The readings guide us through the significance of the Eucharist as the Sacrifice of the New Covenant. In Exodus 24:3-8, the blood of sacrificed animals signifies the Israelites' union with God, foreshadowing Jesus' ultimate sacrifice. Mark 14:12-16, 22-26 recounts the Last Supper, where Jesus institutes the Eucharist, offering His Body and Blood as the new covenant for our redemption. Hebrews 9:11-15 emphasizes the superiority of this new covenant, sealed with Christ's Blood, purifying our consciences for serving the living God. The Eucharist is the "source and summit" of our faith, the living memorial of Christ's Paschal Mystery, drawing us into His eternal sacrifice. As we celebrate, let us deepen our appreciation for the Eucharist, approaching the altar with reverence, recognizing its vital role in our spiritual journey and mission. May Corpus Christi inspire us to live as true disciples, empowered by Christ's Body and Blood to be His witnesses in the world. Amen. #CorpusChristi #HolyEucharist #NewCovenant #CatholicFaith #BodyAndBloodOfChrist #ChristianLife #PaschalMystery #HolyCommunion #CatholicChurch #Solemnity #FaithJourney #GospelProclamation #ChristianDiscipleship #EucharisticCelebration
