Your friends
Your friends You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. This quote is attributed to a number of inspiring people, and the truth of it is profound. Take a moment to write down five people with whom you spend the most time in your life: family, friends, co-workers. Now think of the kind of people they are. Are they happy and cheerful and always expressing a positive outlook on things? Or are they depressed, pessimistic and forever finding something negative to point out? Do they take pride in taking care of personal responsibility for how their life is turning out and refuse to blame others for shortcomings and fallen expectations? Or are they depressed and unmotivated, always playing the victim and finding excuses for why things aren’t going their way? What kind of person do you want to be? What kind of person is the average of these folks you spend your time with? Take a moment and be honest with yourself. Science has shown that people tend to become like those they spend a lot of time with. Spend a lot of time with an angry person, and you will find that your impulse begins to tend toward anger and resentment. Spend time in the company of people who are generous and thoughtful, and you will find it easier and more automatic to share and take a few extra moments to help others. If you hang out with people who are continually finding great things to accomplish, you’ll learn from their ways and become infected by their work ethic and enthusiasm for life. What kind of person do you want people to know you to be? You are the only person responsible for who you turn out to be. Don’t let others influence you without recognizing it. There will be people that you can’t just abandon, such as family members. But you can always select other companions who will help you deal positively with the not-so-great influences that you must co-exist with. Don’t let your best life choices slip away because of another person’s bad attitude and choices. #MindsetMatters #ChooseYourCircle #SelfGrowthJourney #PositiveInfluence #ProtectYourEnergy
