There are nine games on the NHL schedule for Thursday March 3. However, the first one is the rock star event. Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins meet the two-time Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning in a contest that starts at 7 p.m. ET. It will be a barnburner in the Sunshine State. Also in Florida, the Panthers will try and keep pace with the Lightning as they welcome the Ottawa Senators. The Philadelphia Flyers play host to the Minnesota Wild, who have cooled a bit after a scorching strea. The Carolina Hurricanes face a rough trip as they face the inconsistent but talented Washington Capitals. One other game in the Northeast sees the Vancouver Canucks pay a visit to the New York Islanders and their new UBS Arena. The rest of the schedule is topped by a 9 p.m. faceoff that will have the Vegas Golden Knights tussle with the Boston Bruins. The Montreal Canadiens are in Calgary to battle the Flames, and the Edmonton Oilers hit the Windy City to duel the Chicago Blackhawks. In what feels like a major mismatch the Colorado Avalanche scrap with the Arizona Coyotes. However, don’t lose sight of the fact the lowly Coyotes were the ones to snap the Avalanche’s 18-game home winning streak.
