Holy Mass Daily Readings and Reflection - September 28, 2022, | Daily Gospel Today Reflection | Luke Wednesday of the Twenty-sixth Week in Ordinary Time 1st Reading: Job 9:1-12, 14-16 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 88:10BC-11, 12-13, 14-15 The Acclamation: Philippians 3:8-9 Gospel: Luke 9:57-62 Personal Reflection Today’s Reflection on the Readings Prayer Personal Reflection What if I'm totally lost in thought? Do I still hear Jesus' invitation to follow Him? Absolutely, Jesus calls me to follow Him more the more lost in thought I am. Today’s Reflection on the Readings Jesus challenges the distracted disciple in today's reading, and He challenges every one of us today. He advises being committed and maintaining focus. The reading for today provides insight for us to consider our goals and commitments. Jesus also challenges every one of us to identify what is most crucial and stick with it. Our calling is to follow Jesus. Our commitment and resolutions to follow Christ must be a lifetime decision to be with Him rather than a temporary resolution. In order to follow Jesus with all of our hearts and all of our deeds, we must continually learn from our wonderful Master. He has the finest plan for our lives and is the one who most understands how they can benefit both us and people all around the world. Jesus also serves as a reminder in today's reading that while many people admire, like, and value us, they often make wrong turns when it comes to doing the right thing. Jesus responds, "Take up your Cross daily and follow me," at this gesture. Lord, please make it possible for me to be ready to participate in the pleasures and sufferings of your ministry. Prayer The Supreme Lord and Master of all. I thank you for your great love for me and your kind invitation to "follow you." Lord, while I follow you, many things of this world get in the way. As a result, I am often sidetracked by the pressing matters of life, my bodily comforts, and my worldly aspirations. Lord, please help me to keep my eyes fixed on you at all times.
