Shadow of the Ninja (NES) - (Kaede | No Death | Longplay)

Ah Natsume, one of the lesser known companies that dish out some challenging but fun games such as Wild guns, Pocky & Rocky, and Ninjawarriors. Though I wanted to get back to one of their NES titles after a friend of mine showed me that this game is getting a remake, to commemorate it's release, I figured why beat shadow of the ninja again. (Thanks again to ‪@shr1nema1den‬ for letting me know about the remake ᗜˬᗜ) Somehow the plot is oddly similar to ninjawarriors in which a dictator takes over a certain city. In shadow of the Ninja, the city of New York is taken over by an evil empire led by a dictator named Garuda. Two ninja's from the Iga clan, Hayate and Kaede set out to stop Garuda. The game is pretty great, I don't have much to complain about it apart the weapons and the precision on the platforming segments (mainly jumping at the right spot.) The game starts by letting you choose between Hayate or Kaede, both have the same moves so just pick your fave character. On to the game, the controls are simple, A to jumps and B attacks. Our ninja's can also wall climb certain platforms and ledges, they can throw Shurikens, Kunai's and explosives, and of course, their choice of weapons. The weapons have a level up system, if you collect the same weapon drop 3 times, it'll eventually upgrade. By all means, just don't touch the katana, it's pretty useless when it's not in level 3. The chain blade even on level 1 can do you some justice since it has range. On level 2 you can spam your chain blade mid-air by repeatedly pressing up, on level 3 it will then have that an extra short ranged attack similar to the katana on level 2 or 3, get close to enemies or bosses when your chain blade is at level 3 for quicker kills The level up system also affects your subweapons, the shurikens will turn into fast kunai's then homing shurikens. The bomb will have a homing effect as well but be sure you throw it at the right distance or else it will explode and miss your target. Difficulty is just right, the grahpics are quite impressive as well, it features big and smooth sprites along with that awesome soundtrack. Not much else to say really, it's a great but short action game, it's not to difficult either. If you got switch online then I highly recommend giving it a try!
