In the first reading from Habakkuk, we hear the prophet's cry for help amid suffering and injustice. Habakkuk voices a universal question: “How long, O Lord, must I call for help?” His lament resonates with our own struggles when faced with despair and uncertainty. Yet, the Lord responds, promising that “the righteous shall live by faith.” This call to faith isn’t simply a passive waiting; it’s an active trust in God’s timing and purposes. Today’s psalm echoes this theme, calling us to worship and exalt God, reminding us that He is our shepherd, worthy of our praise and devotion. Our faith calls us to approach Him with joyful spirits, trusting that He will lead us through our trials. In the second reading from 2 Timothy, Paul encourages Timothy to rekindle the gift of God that is within him, urging him to bear his share of hardship for the sake of the Gospel. This bears resemblance to Habakkuk’s call for steadfastness in faith. Paul reminds us that God’s spirit empowers us not to be timid but to embrace our calling with courage and love.
