oceans song by mia kami (performed at UN Oceans Conference 2022)

this week at the UN Oceans Conference in Lisbon, i had the honor of sharing my song for the first time at the One Blue Ocean for One Blue Planet panel hosted by the Pacific Islands Forum (PIFs). After Our Oceans Palau, I was inspired to write a song for the ocean, a song that would highlight the importance of reviving our relationship with the moana and all that she has done for us for generations. In the midst of prioritizing economic gain, we have lost this relationship. This song is a call to action, a call to recognizing that a sustainable future can’t happen without a healthy ocean and I am humbled that I got to premiere it in a space like this one, in front of our Pacific leaders. Thank you to the Pacific Community for bringing me to Lisbon and thank you to PIFs for allowing me to enter this space as a daughter of the Pacific #UNOC2022 🇵🇹
