MI W vs DC W Final Live | Mumbai Indians W v Delhi Capitals W Live Scores & Commentary | 2nd Innings
Can you believe this - the last wicket stand has produced 52 from 24 and has given DCW a lifeline. MIW will be disappointed at the end as they allowed Radha Yadav and Shikha Pandey to hit out, even though it must be said it was outstanding shots from the duo. Earlier it was all one-way traffic as MIW set their opponents back. There was controversy as well when Shafali was given out to a marginal high full-toss which she sliced in the air. Issy Wong had an off-night but dented the top-order with three wickets off full-tosses. Meg Lanning: We are going to bat. It looks a good wicket, we are backing ourselves tonight. We had a good time, relaxed for a few days. We are up against Mumbai tonight. Spin has played a big role here. The bowlers have been effective throughout the tournament. Minnu Mani comes in for Poonam Yadav. Harmanpreet Kaur: We were looking to bowl first, so the toss is not going to affect us. I think the wicket will swing, it looks hard. We need to stay positive, the last game was important and we got a lot of confidence after that. They have a good batting line-up, we need to bowl well tonight. We are going with the same XI. MI Women beat Gujarat Giants by 143 runs, MI Women beat RCB Women by 9 wickets, MI Women beat DC Women by 8 wickets, MI Women beat UP Warriorz by 8 wickets and MI Women beat Gujarat Giants by 55 runs once again. These were the results of the first five games Mumbai Indians Women played in the inaugural edition of WPL 2023. However, even after having such a dominating start to their season, Mumbai Indians stuttered slightly as they lost a couple of games, first against UP and later against DC, and that perhaps cost them a direct entry into the final of WPL 2023. Under the leadership of Meg Lanning, the Delhi Capitals put up an authoritative performance as MI were humbled by 9 wickets at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai less than a week ago. Both - MI and DC, won 6 games in the league stage, but as a result of a superior net run rate, DC finished as the table-toppers. On that note, hello and welcome to our live coverage of the grand finale of WPL 2023 folks! It's Meg Lanning's DC vs Harmanpreet Kaur's MI at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.. Ever since the final round-robin match of the inaugural Women's Premier League 2023, where Delhi Capitals secured their direct entry to final, there's been an over-riding sense of deja vu. A side led by serial World Cup winner Meg Lanning was comfortably awaiting whoever made it through the extra tussle of an elimination threat to a sold-out title clash. Yet again, it's a spirited team led by Harmanpreet Kaur. The similarities stop there, however, because it isn't quite Australia vs India. Sunday's (March 26) finale between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians is a befitting contest between two very evenly-matched sides of the tournament who quite quickly rose to the top courtesy their all-round depth and are now vying for the ultimate glory. At the halfway stage Harmanpreet's MI looked unstoppable with a perfect fifer upfront, all comprehensive wins, their top-four among the tournament's top-10 run-getters consistently, albeit shuffling positions among themselves. The Purple Cap too was firmly in left-arm spinner Saika Ishaque's hold. That clean record included a convincing eight-wicket thrashing of DC when the two unbeaten sides clashed in Navi Mumbai. Capitals flipped the script in the reverse fixture, restricting MI for 100-odd this time to pick up a NRR-defining win by nine wickets, again at DY Patil's transitioning tracks. Two such defeats, batting first, meant MI had to take the extra long route to the final, but they were back to their most dominant self in the 72-run victory over UP Warriorz in the Eliminator. The MI of the old seemed back in action, where bowlers put in a combined shift after Nat Sciver-Brunt toyed with the bowling to negate Warriorz's spin advantage. Their strong showing has hinged on an in-form top-four, all amassing 200 runs at least in the season. What to expect:Of the two venues, the pitches at CCI have more or less stayed true to their batting-friendly reputation throughout the tournament. Given some slowness of the tiring pitches, the average first-innings score here has dropped from 175 in the first leg to 164 in the second. The center strip on offer for the finale is expected to be full of runs though, but dew could play a part in the second half. Teams chasing have been successful in 6 out of the 10 league games played at the venue. Pitch and conditions: The weather looks perfect, the square boundaries are shorter as compared to the straighter one. The bowlers can get some seam movement on this wicket, they need to drag their lengths back in order to trouble the batters and nick them off. Spinners have picked more wickets at this venue as compared to the pacers. But looking at today's wicket, even the pacers have something in it for them.
