Chula Vista Presbyterian Church Aug 22, 2021 Welcome to Worship this morning! Gathering in Hope Welcome & Announcements Prelude *Call to Worship One: Do not put your trust in princes, in mortals, in whom there is no help. All: When their breath departs, they return to the earth; that very day their plans perish. One: Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God, All: The Lord made heaven and earth, he keeps faith forever; One: Lord executes justice for the oppressed, I will praise the LORD as long as I live; All: Praise the Lord, Come let us worship the only true God! *Hymn # Prayer of Confession (please be seated) Friends, as we gather our thoughts into quietness, let us confess our sins to the One who knows us best: Gracious God, our judge and our redeemer, we confess that we would rather do things our own way than yours. And so we live in fear, apart from you. We ask that you forgive us our sins and make us compassionate and honorable, as we trust in you alone. Teach us faithfulness to your commands. Hear now, our personal confessions in the quiet of this moment….(pause)… We pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior, Amen. Assurance of Pardon One: In this, we have assurance of God's forgiveness: While we were still far away in our sin, we were reconciled to God through Jesus Christ All: At the right time Christ offered himself for us; sin and death have no power over us. One: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven, although we never earned it and don’t deserve it. All: God has poured out grace upon grace, releasing us into hope, to live in service and for his glory. Amen. Leader: May the peace of Christ be with you People: And also with you. (please wave the peace of Christ to greet your neighbor) Gloria Patri Musical Offering Prayers of God’s People and the Lord’s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. *Hymn # Hearing God’s Promises New Testament Rev 7:9-17 Old Testament Exodus 14:10-14, 21-22 Sermon “Out of Egypt: Breathe“ Rev.
