International Childhood Cancer Day | Types of Childhood Cancer

Dr. Priti Sandeep Mehta, Senior Consultant – Paediatric Haematology, Oncology & BMT, sheds light on the key differences between childhood and adult cancers and why early diagnosis is critical. Childhood cancers, unlike adult cancers, are not linked to lifestyle factors but arise due to genetic mutations. Leukaemia, brain tumours, neuroblastoma, and lymphoma are among the most common types, with leukaemia being the most prevalent. It primarily occurs in Acute Lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). While childhood cancers tend to be more aggressive, they often respond better to treatment. With timely intervention and advanced therapies, survival rates have significantly improved. Awareness and early detection can make all the difference. Watch now to learn more!
