Holy Mass Daily Readings and Reflection - September 19, 2022, | Daily Gospel Today Reflection | Luke Monday of the Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time 1st Reading: Proverbs 3:27-34 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 15:2-3A, 3BC-4AB, 5 The Acclamation: Matthew 5:16 Gospel: Luke 8:16-18 Personal Reflection Today’s Reflection on the Readings Prayer Jesus was sent by the Father to become the light of the world during the Incarnation of God. Jesus is not secretive; instead, he seeks to be a friend and a leader to everyone who is looking for the purpose of their lives. Does my life serve a purpose? Do I shine for others as rays of light after being touched by Christ's light? We are the light of the world, Jesus declares clearly in today's Gospel passage. Our mission is to shine brightly and extinguish the darkness brought on by human sin and pride because we have been called to be "candles in the dark." This is one way we can communicate our religion and demonstrate how we live. When people look at us, they will see the Christ-light blazing brightly within us. Yes, we must shine the light of God's love even into the farthest reaches of space because we are the world's light. We shine in the darkness as a result of our steadfast adherence to and application of God's Word. Lord, grant us the illumination of your light in our lives so that we may truly be the light of the world. Lord, as we start a new day and a new week, I pray that I will pay attention to and obey your Word by doing meaningful acts because in doing so, I will become the light that is intended to shine and to lead.
