Today's Catholic Mass Readings and Reflections October 26, 2022 | Mass Gospel and Reflection| Luke Wednesday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time 1st Reading: Ephesians 6:1-9 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 145:10-11, 12-13AB, 13CD-14 The Acclamation: 2 Thessalonians 2:14 Gospel: Luke 13:22-30 Personal Reflection Today’s Reflection on the Readings Prayer Personal Reflection Do I have the humility to persevere through life's obstacles on earth's "narrow door" or do I give up and opt for the simple solution? Today’s Reflection on the Readings Jesus reveals a few things to us in the gospel reading for today. "Do your best to enter through the small entrance since many, I assure you, will attempt to do so but be unsuccessful. You will stand outside knocking and pleading, "Sir, open the door for us," once the homeowner gets up and closes the door. He will however respond, "I don't know you or where you're from." I was reminded of my earthly life by today's reading. I must employ the love of Jesus at every opportunity, no matter how small or significant. Being human, I occasionally complain and err, but I always beg the Lord for forgiveness. since I have a limited amount of time left on earth. And I have to be prepared for Jesus' call at all times. The reading for today made me think of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, who was constantly in the Lord's presence. For the love of Jesus and to save souls, in words, in actions, and in all three. Along with that, she added, "It's true I'm not always faithful, but I never lose courage. I entrust myself to the care of Our Lord. "Never miss a chance to make a modest sacrifice, here by a nice word or there by a smile; always do the smallest right and do it all for love." Good news! We are not fighting this battle by ourselves. Our need is met by God's grace since He is with us. According to Philippians 1:27, Jesus promises us total victory as we battle together for the faith of the gospel. Do you have faith in God's goodness and support, especially when faced with challenges and temptations? I'm grateful that you let me speak with you today and I hope this was useful. Prayer "Lord, please make it easier for me to always place my faith in your saving grace, especially during times of temptation and trial. Give me the resolve and fortitude to withstand temptation, especially the temptation to compromise or to disregard your word. Assist me in remaining faithful to you."
