You were chosen by God even before birth, filled with the Holy Spirit, and blessed to baptize the Lamb of God Himself. We humbly ask for your intercession: Pray for us, that we may have the courage to speak the truth, even when it is hard, like you did before kings. Pray for us, that we may repent sincerely of our sins, and make our hearts ready for Jesus to enter. Pray for us, that we may live simply and humbly, always decreasing so that Christ may increase in us. Help us to renew our baptismal promises and walk in holiness all our days. O holy martyr of justice and purity, intercede for us in our trials, and help us remain faithful to the mission God has given each of us. Through your powerful prayers, may we, like you, prepare the way for the Lord in this world and one day rejoice with you in His eternal kingdom. ๐™ค๐™๐™ฃ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐˜ฝ๐™–๐™ฅ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™จ๐™ฉโ€“ A Brief Summary 1. ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ญ๐ก ๐š๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฉ๐ก๐ž๐œ๐ฒ:St. John the Baptist was born to Zechariah, a priest, and Elizabeth, a relative of the Virgin Mary. His birth was miraculous, as his parents were old and childless. The Archangel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah, announcing that his son would be filled with the Holy Spirit even before birth and would prepare the people for the coming of the Lord (Luke 1:5โ€“25). When Mary visited Elizabeth during her pregnancy, John leapt in Elizabethโ€™s womb (Luke 1:39โ€“45), signifying his recognition of the presence of Jesus. 2. ๐‹๐ข๐Ÿ๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐ซ๐ญ:John lived a life of austerity in the wilderness of Judea. Herodias held a grudge and eventually, through her daughter Salomeโ€™s dance, manipulated Herod into ordering John's beheading. His martyrdom made him the forerunner not just in life but in death, preceding Jesus even in suffering. 5.๐‹๐ž๐ ๐š๐œ๐ฒ: Jesus called him the greatest of those born of women (Matthew 11:11). He is venerated as the last of the Old Testament prophets and the bridge to the New Testament.
