Sermon Outline : COME AND DIE: THE CALL OF THE CROSS! LUKE 14:25-35 | REV. SHINE THOMAS 1. The Context of Discipleship (v.25) Jesus speaks not to a select few, but to the large crowds—His radical call is for everyone. 2. The Personal Cost of Following Jesus (v.26) True discipleship demands that Jesus be first—above family, relationships, and even our own lives. 3. Carrying the Cross (v.27) The cross is not just a burden we bear, but a willful surrender to God’s purposes, even unto death. 4. Counting the Cost (v.28–32) Discipleship is not impulsive. Jesus calls us to think carefully, like a builder or a king preparing for battle. 5. The Material Cost of Discipleship (v.33) We must say farewell to possessions—nothing we own should own us. Christ must be Lord over all. 6. The Danger of Half-heartedness (v.34–35) A disciple without true commitment is like salt without saltiness—useless and discarded. 7. The Call to Exclusive Loyalty Jesus wants all of us—our love, our loyalty, our lives. Discipleship is a call to die to self and live fully for Christ.
