Reading 1 – Deuteronomy 34:1-12 1 From the plains of Moab, Moses went up Mount Nebo, to the summit of Pisgah, opposite Jericho. There the Lord showed him the whole land — Gilead as far as Dan, 2 all of Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea, 3 the Negeb, and the valley of Jericho — the city of palm trees — stretching as far as Zoar. 4 The Lord said to him, “This is the land I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your own eyes, but you shall not cross over into it.” 5 And there, in the land of Moab, Moses, the servant of the Lord, died as the Lord had said. 6 He was buried in the valley, in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor; but to this day no one knows his burial place. 7 Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died; his eyes were still sharp, and his strength had not left him. 8 The Israelites mourned for Moses in the plains of Moab for thirty days, until the period of mourning and weeping was over. 9 Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him; the Israelites obeyed him, doing as the Lord had commanded Moses. 10 Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face. 11 He was unequaled in all the signs and wonders the Lord sent him to perform in Egypt against Pharaoh, his officials, and all his land, 12 and in all the mighty deeds and terrifying acts that Moses performed in the sight of all Israel. Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 66:1-3, 5, 8, 16-17 Response: Blessed be God, who filled my soul with life! 1 Shout with joy to God, all the earth; 2 sing the glory of His name; give Him glorious praise. 3 Say to God, “How awesome are Your deeds! Because of Your great power, Your enemies submit to You.” 5 Come and see the works of God, His awesome deeds among the children of Adam. 8 Bless our God, you peoples; let the sound of His praise be heard. 16 Come and hear, all who fear God, and I will tell what He has done for me. 17 I cried out to Him with my mouth, and praise was on my tongue. Gospel – Matthew 18:15-20 Jesus said to His disciples: 15 “If your brother sins against you, go and speak to him alone. If he listens to you, you have won your brother back. 16 If he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, so that every matter may be confirmed by the testimony of two or three witnesses. 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the community; and if he refuses to listen even to the community, treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector. 18 Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in My name, I am there among them.”
